The Box, Thursday, Aug. 18, 7-9 p.m., Reginald F. Lewis Museum. Sarah Shourd’s play “The BOX” is inspired by the stories of incarcerated people and survivors of solitary confinement. The End of Isolation Tour, which is making stops across the country, is visiting Baltimore Aug. 17-18.

Luca Showing, Thursday, Aug. 18, 8:15 p.m., Sisson Street Community Park. Watch the Disney film “Luca” during an outdoor movie night in the park. The movie will start at sundown.

SPARK: New Light, ongoing through Sept. 25, The Peale. “SPARK: New Light” launched last weekend at the newly reopened Peale museum, and will run through Sept. 25. Featuring works by 24 artists from UMBC and Towson University, the exhibition includes photographic time capsules, glow-in-the-dark microscopic organisms, bamboo paper sculptures, and more artworks meant to illuminate, enlighten and spark your imagination.

Vegan SoulFest + We Give Black Fest, Friday, Aug. 19 through Sunday, Aug. 21, West Covington Park. Vegan Soulfest and We Give Black Fest are teaming up for two engaging weekend events in one location. Celebrate vegan food, music, wellness, Black-led organizations and businesses, and more. Trading Card Convention, Friday, Aug. 19 through Sunday, Aug. 21, Baltimore Convention Center. Star City Games will host its Baltimore trading card game convention this weekend. Enjoy three days of Magic the Gathering, Flesh and Blood, artists, trading card vendors, and more.

Wild About Elephants, Saturday, Aug. 20, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Maryland Zoo. Learn about the Earth’s largest land mammal, the challenges they face in the wild, and what you can do to help elephant friends. Talk with experts, watch elephants smash watermelons, and more.

Plein Air Show, Saturday, Aug. 20, 3-5 p.m., Crystal Moll Gallery. “En plein air,” French for “in the open air,” is used to describe artwork created in and of an outdoor landscape. The Crystal Moll Gallery in Federal Hill will present the 9th Annual Summer Plein Air Show, with an opening reception, demonstration, and wet paint show and sale on Saturday.

Maryland Folk Metal Fest VI, Saturday, Aug. 20, 4:30 p.m., Metro Gallery. The Maryland Folk Metal Festival will return for its sixth season this weekend, with a range of metal music styles, including folk, viking, melodic, pirate, pagan, fantasy, symphonic and more. Performers include Sekengard, Dzo-nga, Goblin Hovel, Primeval Well, Wythersake, StumpTail, Forever Autumn. Tickets are $23 in advance or $30 the day of the show.

Fermata Caesura, Saturday, Aug. 20, show 7 p.m., An Die Musik. Fermata Caesura swirls together chamber music and rock for a dark and mystifying sound.

Pierce’s Park Birthday Bash, Sunday, Aug. 21, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Pierce’s Park. Waterfront Partnership of Baltimore will celebrate 10 years of free and accessible family space at the one-acre Pierce’s Park in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor. Enjoy treats from the Funnel Cake King, live music from DJ Edible, face painting by Kinderklown, Dextre Tripp’s magic show and kids juggling workshop, and more.

Gangstagrass, Sunday, Aug. 21, doors 7 p.m., show 8 p.m., Baltimore Soundstage. The musical group Gangstagrass mixes bluegrass, hip-hop and other styles for a whole new musical genre. Their latest album, “No Time For Enemies” climed to the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s bluegrass chart, and the group received a 2010 Emmy nomination for their theme song for the FX series “Justified.”
