Potential Tropical Cyclone 1 spares Central Florida as warnings lift

In an 11 p.m. update from the National Hurricane Center, a tropical system that brought heavy rains to Florida moved off the coast of Florida and brought heavy rains to some areas. All tropical storm warnings in Central Florida counties were dropped by Saturday afternoon.

The system finally organized enough to become Tropical Storm Alex Sunday morrning.

Being on the left side of the storm, or the dry side, Central Florida saw the rain out of the way by Saturday evening.

A tropical storm warning was dropped for Brevard, Polk and Osceola.

The rain from the potential tropical cyclone produced considerable flash and urban flooding in some parts of Florida.

Enable emergency alerts — if you have an iPhone, select settings, then go into Notifications. From there, look for government alerts and enable emergency alerts.
