BMG's Garlock seal product line includes a multifunctional sealing system that can replace mechanical seals in industrial pump applications.

Garlock's Hydra-Just system is a reliable, leak-free rotary sealing system that consists of a minimum number of components and is completely separated, without the need for expensive disassembly procedures or spare equipment. The machine can be repaired without disconnecting the motor.

"Because the system provides cool and dry operation without the need to dilute the product, the overall water consumption is significantly reduced. Unlike mechanical seals, this sealing system can withstand fluctuations in water pressure and is more effective under high pressure/low flow conditions. ”Explains Michael Bissett, Operations Manager of BMG's Sealing and Gasket Division. "Traditional packing must leak to function, and common system failures will adversely affect the performance of the mechanical seal. The system uses braided rings in combination with other high-performance materials to achieve a truly leak-free rotary seal without catastrophic Risk of failure.

"This means that users can optimize uptime and schedule maintenance around production needs, instead of rescheduling production around seal failures."

These easy-to-install, low-maintenance Hydra-Just seals can be used wherever a single mechanical seal is currently used. The sealing system has high wear resistance and chemical resistance, which means it can operate efficiently even in harsh environments.

The important components of the system are flow meters, needle valves and pressure gauges that regulate and measure the pressure of the sealing water. The barrier pressure ring effectively guides the sealing water pressure so that the forces on the inner and outer seals are kept equal. The system does not require additional equipment-the flow rate of the pressurized seal water is only 13 – 45 ℓ/h.

Since these seals do not use machined sealing surfaces, the system can withstand moderate wear of the stuffing box.

Garlock products are supported by BMG's technical consulting and 24-hour support services throughout Southern Africa.
