Many people will never forget the day former Gov. Mark Schweiker stood before cameras and microphones in Somerset County, Pa., on July 28, 2002, and said, “Nine for nine.”

People everywhere sighed in relief when nine miners trapped underground at Quecreek Mine in Lincoln Twp. near Somerset for 77 hours - from July 24 to July 28 - were brought to the surface - alive.
